The Bumblebee

When I was trying to think of a good name for this blog, the Ladybug part was obvious. It wasn't until a few days after Easter Weekend that I thought of the Bumblebee. We were down in Southern Ontario visiting my husband's brother and family. It was a shorts and sandals weekend. We were all outside enjoying the weather when our 3 year old son was stung by something that flew into his sandal.

His blood curdling scream initially made us think he had broken his ankle, but we quickly realized with his panic to get his sock and sandal off that it was likely a sting. He was beyond petrified by this and would not wear shoes or socks for about 4 days. He wouldn't let his feet hang down from his car seat in case there was a bug waiting to sting him. He would tip toe across the lawn and parking lots. His behaviour totally freaked us out. Eventually within a week, he was back to normal.

Throughout this incident, we were reading an Underwater Sea Pop-up Book each night. On each page, there was a really cute ladybug and a really cute bumbleebee, wearing masks and snorkles. Our routine was to find them on each page. Right then, it seemed obvious: The Bumblebee and The Ladybug!

Of course I was a bit worried if the Bumbleebee continued to tiptoe everywhere outside, we would have a hard time referring to him like that. Thankfully he back fully flat footed and full steam ahead.
